Adobe Photoshop CS is one of the best popular graphics (image) designing
package (GDP) brought out by Adobe
Corporation in USA.
Adobe Photoshop is an advanced drawing and painting program as well as a
program of correcting manipulation photographic images. It is an improved
version of 5.5/5.5. Some times it is also used for desktop designing works.
Since it's released in 1990, Adobe
Photoshop has revolutized in manipulation Photoshop has variety of features and
simple to understand architecture have made it, a very useful tool for people
working in digital imaging. With the help of this program you can create,
modify your own designing with different color management, different styles,
effects, features such as special effects, filter and layer effects (layer
styles), changing the color, brightness and contrast of the image later version
of Photoshop provide features that are not supported in previous version. Adobe
Photoshop CS contains different types of plotting panels (right side), Tools
(left side), Option bar (up), and status bar (down). Each an
every tool
contains their own associated option bar to left, manipulate or create images.- How to open Adobe Photoshop?
- Click on start button.
- Click on Run command.
- Then, its dialog box will appear.
- Type "Photoshop" then press enter or click on ok button.
To open image:-
Steps:-
- Double click on outside from document page.
- Choose any picture.
- Then, Click on open button.
Creating a new document:-
Press
Ctrl+N from the Keyboard or Click on
file menu and choose New.
(Here
give file name, choose preset size, height, and width of the document. If you
are going to prepare the document for printing purpose choose cm, inches, and
pixels for web. Choose resolution, 72/300 for image quality. Choose 72 ppi.
Resolution and RGB color mode for the web purpose and choose 300 ppi resolution
and cmyk color mode for print purpose.)
Now Photoshop interface consists of a
menu bar, tool box and palettes.
Menu bar:-
The
menu bar is located at the top of the workspace. The menu bar organized by the
topic, it contains the File, Edit, Image, Layer, Select, Filter, View, Window,
and help menu.
Note:-
1.
To hide and show
the toolbar Press "tab" key from the keyboard.
2.
To visible and
invisible the toolbar double click on blue color pad on the toolbar.
3.
To show hidden
tools right click on anyone tool.
4.
To recycle the
hidden the tool click on anyone tool with holding "alt" key.
5.
To select anyone
tools without mouse press shortcut key from keyboard like G.
6.
To recycle hidden
tools without mouse press anyone short cut key without holding shift key.

To see your image
in full screen mode press tab key and press "F" key two times.
8.
To remove full
screen press tab key and press F key from keyboard.

To jump on adobe
website click on adobe icon on the toolbar.
10. To display Tools information in status bar then select
the tool which you want to see then click on right arrow icon from the status
bar and select current tool option.
11. To undo the last action then hold ctrl+alt+Z

About tool box
There are 22 different types
of tools found in the box which are use to select edit, crop, view etc and
there are 10 other extra tools which are used to select color quick mask mode
jump image ready etc.
1. Marquee selection tool
This tool is use to select
the part of an image in a rectangular shape.
1. Elliptical Marquee tool
This tool is use to select
the part of an image in ellipse or circle shape.
1. Single row marquee tool:
This tool is use to select
single pixel value of the selected part of an image in the horizontal way
1. Single column marquee tool
This tool is use to select
single pixel value of the selected part of an image in vertical way.
2. Move tool:
This tool is used to move
selection, layer, guide and resize.
3. Lasso tool
This tool is use to make
selection. It is use to draw a freehand selection
3. Polygon Lasso tool:
It is used to draw a straight
regiment at first draw the first line segment (-) and in this way continue
drawing line segment. Finally touch the first line point.
3. Magnetic Lasso Tool
It is use to select same
color border selection area.
4. Magic wand tool
The
magic wand tool lets you select a consistently colored area (for example: a red
flower) without having to trace its outline, you specify the color range for
the magic wand tools selection.
5. Crop:
It is use to crop the image
so that we can take out the portion (part) of an image.
6. Slice Tool:
Use this tool to create a
multiple slice of a single image after slicing to save all the slice image use
save for web option from file menu, the sliced image are save in images folder
containing Html file. Using this tool we can also create link.
To link any one picture with the help
of slice tool:
Steps:
1. Open any one image.
2. Select slice tool.
3. Now draw the area on any
place on the image.
4. Double click on selection
area with holding ctrl key.
5. Type your image
"URL" (http://www.yahoo.com) which you want to open in the URL box.
6. Type your message in the
alt tag box.
7. Click on ok button.
8. Now click on file menu.
9. Click on save for web

7. Brush tool:
The brush tool lets you paint
the current foreground color in an image. The paint brush tool creates s soft
strokes of colors.

hard-edged freehand lines.
8. Healing Brush Tool:
The healing brush tool lets
you correct imperfection, causing them to disappear into the surround images.
It just like cooling tool.
8. Patch tool:
To repairs imperfections in a
selected area of an image using sample or pattern.
To make pattern with the helps of
patch tool
Steps:
1. First of all open any
image.
2. Select patch tool from the
tool bar.
3. Make the selection area on
the image.
4. Choose pattern style from
option bar.
5. Select any pattern style.
6. Finally click on use
pattern button.
To set anyone part of image to another

1. Open anyone image or
picture.
2. Click n patch tool from
tool box.
3. Select the area which part
of an image.
4. Now drag your mouse in
another place which place you want to set, on clicking selection area with the

8. Color replacement tool.
We can fix red eyes in photos
using the color replacement tool.
9. Clone stamp tool:
The clone stamp tool takes a
sample color of an image, which you can then apply over another image or part
of the same image. You can also clone part of one layer over another layer.
Each stroke of the tool paints one more of the sample.
9. Pattern stamp tool.
The pattern stamp tool lets
you paint with a pattern. You can select a pattern from the pattern libraries
or create your own pattern.
To create own pattern style:
Steps:
1. Open anyone image and
select any part. (Use only rectangular marquee tool)
2. Click on edit menu.
3. Click on define pattern
command.
4. Then its dialog box will
appear
5. Type your own pattern
name.
6. Click on ok button.
7. Select the pattern stamp
tool and set brush size.
8. Then drag your mouse on
your document or where you want to apply
10. History brush tool:
The history brush tool lets
you to go back and undo certain change in the picture. To delete everything you
did since the opening of the picture simply drag the history brush over the
area to be repaired
10. Art history brush tool:
The art history brush tool
lets you paint with stylized strokes, using the source data from a specified
history stare or snapshot. It is use to artistically wrap the original image or
picture. Click on the area you want to
edit with the art history brush.
11. Eraser tool:
The eraser tool lets you
change the pixel of an image as you drag through them. If you are working in
the background or in a layer with transparence locked the pixel change to the
background color.
11. Background eraser tool:
The background eraser tool
lets you to erase pixel on a layer to transparency as you drag this allows you
erase the background, While maintains the edge of an object in the foreground.
11. Magic eraser tool:
When you click in a layer
with the magic eraser tool the tool automatically changes all similar pixels.
If you are working in the background or in a layer with locked transparency the
pixels changes to background color other wise the pixels are erased to
transparency.
12. Gradient tool:
The gradient tool creates a
gradual blend (mix) between multiple colors. You can choose from preset
gradient fills or create your own gradient style. The starting points (where
the mouse is pressed) and ending points (where the mouse is released) affect
the gradient appearance, depending on the gradient tool used.
To apply gradient fill:
1. To fill part of the image select the desired area,
otherwise the gradient fill is applied to the entire active layer.
2. Select gradient tool.
3. Choose a gradient fill in
the option bar.
12. Paint bucket tool:
The paint bucket tool fills
adjacent (near) pixels that are similar in color value to the pixels you click.
Note: The
paint bucket tool cannot be used with image in bitmap mode.
13. Blur tool:
The blur tool softens hard
edges or areas in an image to reduce detail.
13. Sharpen tool:
The sharpen tool used to
focuses soft edges to increase clarity (clearness) or focus the contrast
(difference) of adjust pixel.
13. Smudge Tool
The
smudge tool simulates the action of drawing fingers throughout points. The
smudge tool pickup colors where the strokes begins pushed it in the direction
14. Dodge too and Burn tool:
This tool is used to lighten
and darken areas of the image; the dodge tool and burn tools are based on a
traditional photographer’s technique for regulating exposure (To make lighter)
on specify areas of a point.
14. Sponge tool:
The sponge tool stubbly changes
the color saturation of an area in grayscale mode, the tool increase or
decrease contrast (difference) by moving gray levels away from or towards the
middle gray.
15. Path selection tool:
This
tool is use to select a path component or path segment displays all of the
anchor points on the selected portion, including any direction lines and
direction points if the selected segment curved.
Using
the path selection tool, drag a marquee select existing path areas and then
choose a shape area option in the option bar.
15. Direct selection tool:
This tool is use to select
path to change shape. With the help of this tool you can move, reshape or
delete individual segments in a path and you can add or delete anchor points to
change the configuration (situation) of segment.
Note: You
can also apply a transformation such as scaling, rotating flipping or
distorting to a segment or anchor points.
16. Horizontal and vertical type
tool:
This
tool is use to type the text horizontally and vertically. Press ctrl + T and
change different text option. When you enter point type each line of type is
dependent the length of a line grows or shrinks as you edit it, but it doesn’t
wrap to the next line. The type you entered appears in a new layer.
16. Horizontal Type Mask Tool and
Vertical Type Mask tool:
This
tool is use to select the shape of the type, type selection on the active layer
and can be moved copied the same selection tool, when you use the horizontal
type mask tool or vertical type mask tool, you create a selection in the shape
of the type., type selections appears on the active layers and can be moved
copied, fill or stroked just like any other selection.
17. Pen tool:
This
tool is use to create a straight line and smooth flowing curves greater
precision than is possible with the freeform pen tool. For most users pen tool
provides the best controls and greatest accuracy for drawing. You can create or
edit straight lines, curves or freeform lines and shapes using the pen tool.

from pen tool:
The
free from pen tool lets you draw freehand path as if you were drawing with a
pencil on the paper secure points are added automatically as you draw.

Find and Replace Text:-
Find and Replace Text that
you've done in the workspace.
Fill:
You
can fill a selection or layer with the foreground color, the background color
or a pattern in Photoshop. You can use patterns from the pattern libraries
provided or create your own pattern.
Steps:-

menu choose fill option.

Then fill dialog
box will appear.
3.
Choose any one
color option.

Click on ok
button.

If you want to
fill pattern then choose pattern and click on ok button.
Stroke:
You
can use the stroke command to paint a colored border around a selection layer
or a path. This option allows us to create a softer border than one created
using the stroke layer style. This option is used to give any one color style
stroke.

2. Click on edit menu, choose
stroke option.
3. Then its dialog box will
appear.
4. Choose any line color and
enter the stroke size.
5. Click on ok button.
Free Transform:
The
transform command lets you to apply transformation (rotate, scale, skew,
distort and perspective) etc, in one continuous operation instead of choosing
different command you can simply hold down a key on your keyboard to switch
between transformation types.

This

custom shape.
6. Click on ok button.
Transformation a selection or layer
Photoshop offers a number of
transformations you can make to affect a selection in an image or an individual
layer.
Transform enables you to
1. Scale: - change
the size of the selection or layer.
2. Rotate: - Change the angle
position of the selection or
layer.
3. Skew: - Drag one side of the selection to
"angle' the selection or layer.
4. Distort: - Drag the corner handle bounding the selection
to "Stretch" the selection in multiple direction at one.
5. Perspective:
- Simultaneously
resize opposite boundaries of the selection to achieve one – point perspective.
6. Flip: Flip the selection horizontally or
vertically.
Steps:-
Make required selection or
choose the required layer from layer palette or by clicking the right mouse
button choosing layer name.
2. Go to edit menu.
3. Choose transform.
4. Click on the desired
transform command
5. Perform required task.
6. After finish your click on
the commit button at the right end of the option bar.
Preference:-
Allows you to edit the
Preferences in Adobe Photoshop CS/CS2.
Image Menu:
Mode:
This option is used to change
the picture's color mode.
Steps:-
1. Choose anyone picture.
2. Click on Image menu.
3. Then choose any one picture mode option such as
Grayscale, RGB Color, CMYK color, LAB color etc.
Adjustment:
This
option is used to set Picture color curve style, Brightness & Contrast,
Auto color, Color Balance, Replace color, Channel Mixer, Gradient map,
Selective color etc.
Steps:-
1. Choose anyone picture.
2. Click on image Menu then
choose anyone color style option.
3. Then its dialog box will
appear.
4. Set anyone color and click
ok button.
5. (Note):- If you want to
set black & White color.
6. Then go to Image Menu
choose Adjustment option.
7. Choose Desaturate option.
8. If you want to set Invert
color then choose invert option.
Duplicate:
This option is used to Create
Duplicate image.
Steps:

2. Click on duplicate
command.
3. Type your image name.

Image Size:-
This option is used to set
image size.

Canvas size
The
canvas size command lets you add or remove workspace around an existing image.
You can also use the command to crop an image by decreasing the canvas area.
Canvas size:
1. Choose any picture, page
etc.
2. Click on image menu,
choose Canvas size option.
3. Then its dialog box will
appear.
4. Set canvas size.
5. Click on ok button.
Crop:
This command is use to crop the image.
Rotate
canvas:
The
rotate canvas command lets you to rotate or flip an entire image. This command
does not work an individual layers or pars of layer, paths or selection
borders.

to rotate the image by half turn.

900 CW
to rotate the image clockwise by quarter turn.
3.
900
CCW to rotate the image counter clockwise quarter turn.
4.
Arbitary to
rotate the image by the angle you specify. If you are choose this option, enter
an angle between 3600 and 3600 in the angle text box and
click on ok button.

Flip canvas
vertical to flip the image vertically along the horizontal axis.

choose Rotate Canvas size option.

Duplicate
layer
This command allows us to create a duplicate layer of
the current layer.
Layer
style
You can create custom styles using one or more of the
following effects.
Drop
shadow.
This
command lets you to add a shadow that falls behind the contents on the layer.
Inner
shadow:
This
command allow us to add a shadow that falls just inside the edges of the
layer’s content, giving the layer a recessed appear.
Outer
glow
This
command allows us to add the glow that emanate from the out side or inside
edges of the layer’s content.
Bevel
This
command lets add the various combinations of highlights and shadows to a layer.
Satin
Applies
shading to the interior of a layer that reacts to the shape of the layer
typically creating a satiny finish.
Color,
Gradient and Pattern overlay
Fills the layer’s content with a color, gradient or
pattern.
Stroke:
To
outlines the object on the current layer using color, a gradient or pattern. It
is particularly useful on hard edged shapes such as type.
To apply
a custom style to a layer:
Steps:
1. Click on the layer style button in
the layer palette and choose any effect from the list or click on layer menu
choose layer style then click on the any one layer style such as stroke,

Change layer content:-
This
option is used to fill color in different or set color in different style.

Rasterize:-
This

Flatten Image:-
The
flatten image command make all visible layers are merged into background image

You can define feathering for marquee tool, the lasso
tool, the polygon tool or magnetic lasso tool. You can use add feathering to an
existing selection. You can use the feather or soften the edge of the
selection. The feather command effects become apparent when you move cut copy
or fill the selection.

increase or decrease the pixel in an existing selection.

Applying a
filter
Applying some filters merely requires selecting the
appropriate filter command. The cast majority of filters display a dialog box
with a preview that enables you to adjustment and previews the filter before
applying it.

Open the image
you want to adjust.

Display the layer
that holds the desired image content to filter and select required portion of
image with suitable selection tool.
Tips:
Photoshop applies the filter effect only to the
current layer and current selection.

Go to filter
menu.

Point to required
filter submenu.
5.
Click on required
filter options.

Adjust dialog box
setting as needed.

button.
Note:
If the image does not use RGB color or is a bitmapped,
indexed or 16 bits per channel image, Photoshop will not allow you to apply a
filter to it.
